Our Zoo Trip #2

Our Zoo Trip #1

Here are all the amazing pictures from our trip to Auckland Zoo. What an experience, we saw so many incredible animals, and learned a lot about them from reading the information signs. Our Zoo Educator Patrick taught us many interesting facts about African animals. We learned how long a giraffe's tongue is and why it's blue. We learned that a rhino's horn is made of keratin, the same stuff our hair and finger nails are made from. We also got to touch a real rhino horn! There's a lot to talk about, so I hope you like sharing these pictures at home.

Student Led Conferences

Thank you parents and whānau for coming to Room 4 and sharing our learning. We felt so proud showing you our art work, reading you our writing, and impressing you with our fraction knowledge. We were also excited to tell you all about space and the solar system.

Gymnastics

Room 4 have been learning a range of gymnastic skills including: floor routines, jumps on the vault, bars, trampoline, and balancing on the beam. It great to kids challenging themselves each week to improve their skills. Keep it up!

Fraction Toast

Alien Slime

Room 4 made Alien Slime. We had to read our slime recipe in our group. We practised our measuring skills. We had fun adding ingredients and stirring and squishing until it turned into gooey slime.

The Relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun

We demonstrated our learning about how the Moon orbits the Earth and how together they both travel around the sun. We learned that the Moon takes 29 days to travel around the Earth which is nearly a month, and the Earth takes 365 days to orbit the Sun, which is one whole year! It's great to be learning from each other as well as from what we read in books.
